Sweet Victory

I should admit, unlike my husband, I did not foresee a Utah victory in yesterday's game, but I am definitely eating my words after last night's blowout. I was so happy BYU got destroyed on their home turf! What a great victory for the Utes!

Oh, Those Summer Nights

I was so happy we were finally able to make it up the canyon this summer to roast marshmallows and starbursts. We had a great time up there with the Mulcocks, at least until the po po kicked us out. Just glad we had enough time to make some tasty s'mores!

Celebrating Two Years!

August 5th was our second wedding anniversary, and I can't believe how fast the time has gone by! And what better way to celebrate our anniversary than by attending a wedding. It was my cousin Robbie's wedding and he and his beautiful bride were married in the Manti temple. For those of you who have not been to the Manti temple I definitely recommend making the trip out there. I honestly think it's one of the prettiest temples I've been to. It almost feels like a castle. I knew it was in Manti, UT and I was aware of how small a town it is, but I was in awe driving up to it. It's just this massive structure in the middle of nowhere and it is absolutely beautiful. Sorry, our camera dates are a day off...

Robbie and Cara newly married

After the wedding luncheon Zach and I headed down to St. George for the weekend with his family. Friday night we went to the Tuacahn Theatre to see The Little Mermaid- which had the best scenery ever! Then on Saturday we went back and saw Grease. They both were so much fun to watch! Watching Grease brought me back to my senior year of high school when my friends and I were dancers in our high school's musical of Grease. Good times!!
I made Zach stop in Richfield so we could go to Ideal Dairy for their famous (to the locals) "Slush" drinks

Candace and Samantha brought their cute friends

The following Monday we decided to go to our favorite restaurant to really celebrate- Ruth's Chris!! When they sat us at our table this is what we saw.... The card says "Happy Anniversary".

Just setting the mood...

They gave us a free dessert too... I'm laughing cause I wanted to hold up the plate so you could read the writing but then the bananas started to fall off.

Thank you Ruth's Chris for treating us to a great anniversary dinner!

Two years later... It has been such an adventure being married. I am so grateful for Zach. He makes me better in every way. Thank you for always being so positive, especially when I tell you I'm just being a realist. I love you so much and can't wait for the years ahead!

It's What Fun Is...

The other week we went to Lagoon for the evening with Zach's extended family. It has been a few years since either of us had been there and there were a few new additions, including Wicked which I loved, but Zach was still partial to Colossus. I don't know how my parents use to take us for a full day during stake Lagoon day... that's just way too long to be there! A nighttime trip was the perfect amount of time. It gave us plenty of time to go on all the rides we wanted to and even hit up the 3-point challenge just before the park closed.

I prefer this ride on top of the Stratosphere in Vegas....

This has always been one of my favorites... only if you get the end seat though

Log ride, which we had nice wet shoes afterward!

This was in front of the Wicked sign, but when we tried to get it in the picture you couldn't see us

Life is 'Sweet'

For those of you who know the Porter family, you know that we are referred to only by our nicknames. My nickname has stayed constant over my lifetime, the variation of it however, has fluctuated. As for my other family members (parents included) they have several names that they go by. My little brother Scott (who's not so little anymore) has a couple, but my nickname of choice for him is "Sweet". He'd be mad if he knew I just announced that, but I'm pretty confident very few people read our blog anyway.

The reason I am telling you this is because today in the Deseret News, the high school football preview for Olympus came out and it shows a picture of Scott. If you click here you can see why that nickname is so fitting. Very few high school kids are as nice and humble as he is, especially football players. Most football players pose with their chin up and no smile, which always makes for a good laugh. I am so excited and sad for his senior year of football. I have been going to little league football games or high school games since I can remember. I'm so proud of him and hope he has a great 2011 football season!

Busy Weekend

The weekend of the 24th was a fun-filled weekend with friends and family. Friday night we hung out with our friends, Nate and Cass, up in Park City for a little Alpine Slide and dinner. It has been almost a year since Zach and I last raced on the Slides and I had an unfortunate loss due to a tainted sled; so this year I came ready to redeem myself. Well, we took off and right from the start Zach gained speed on me (I've decided it's a weight thing). This year however, I was much closer and was feeling pretty confident on taking the lead near the last few turns, but as we started to approach the bottom, the girl in front of Zach was going so... slow and he had to put on the breaks, so needless to say I dominated him and he looked pretty upset when he got off the slide right behind the girl. As they did she turned to him and said, "Sorry, I didn't know you could go that fast." I got a good laugh out of it though... This year the tainted victory goes to me, but it is a victory nonetheless! After, we had dinner at our favorite Mexican restaurant and then hit up Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory for some Caramel apples and just chatted the night away. Our drive home took us over an hour thanks to the construction that took the freeway lanes down to one... construction in Utah is endless!

Cass and Nate

Saturday we went golfing and then straight to Gateway to see Captain America. Zach was on call that weekend and got called in pretty late so by the time we got home we were starving. We decided to make a stop at the grocery store and picked out a few things we were craving. The picture of me with our dinner is in no way bragging about my mad cooking skills (cause nothing about this meal takes any effort), but I thought I'd show how random our dinner ended up being... steak, avocados and corn on the cob.

This was taken at about 10:30pm

On Sunday we went to Zach's parents for dinner and then played with sparklers in the backyard. It was a good time... (don't mind the fact that the quality of these pictures is terrible. They were taken with my cell phone at night)

matching shirts; we're so cute!

Block Party

Friday, July 15th, our bank held a "block party" in our parking lot. There were games, free sodas and Chick-fil-A, cotton candy and snow cones, donuts...with bacon on them- it actually tasted like pancakes and bacon, surprisingly not too bad. It felt like it was carnival day back in elementary, which made for a great day of work and I sure love the cute girls I work with!!

Meaghan and I testing out the ranger, but not really...
