Block Party

Friday, July 15th, our bank held a "block party" in our parking lot. There were games, free sodas and Chick-fil-A, cotton candy and snow cones, donuts...with bacon on them- it actually tasted like pancakes and bacon, surprisingly not too bad. It felt like it was carnival day back in elementary, which made for a great day of work and I sure love the cute girls I work with!!

Night At The Ballpark

Last week we went with the Hanseens to the Home Run Derby at Spring Mobile Ballpark. There's nothing like stadium food, good entertainment and great company!!

Back To My Roots

There's nothing quite like spending the 4th of July in Richfield (southern Utah). As you can tell from the pictures, the parade is pretty hard to beat... but seriously, going to the park after the parade is usually the best part! When we were little we'd enter races for our age division and the first place prize was cash... a whole dollar! Proud to say I never lost a Richfield race. You can win all sorts of prizes there, including fish (it's not a gold fish either!), but to do so you have to hop into a pond full of fish and catch them with your bare hands. It's all pretty magical. Unfortunately, we couldn't go to the park this year because my brother had a plane to catch, so hopefully next year Zach will finally be able to experience the thrill of the Richfield park.

Golfing

My brother James came in town last weekend and while he was here my dad took us all golfing at Hidden Valley. As of last year I have picked up this little hobby and really like it (when I'm actually playing decent). This was my first game this year and I wasn't quite ready for 18 holes. Lets just say my best hole was a bogey on a par 3- that being said, I was pretty proud of myself, but I got tired by about the 14th hole and called it a night. I can drive the ball pretty well and my putting game seems to be based on luck, but I am terrible when it comes to using my irons, but hey it's a work in process! The boys however, all played well and it was a really fun day/ night (since it took us about 4 hours)!

Scott can drive the ball so far!

Zach will tell you, taking this picture distracted him. I've still got a lot to learn about golfing etiquette!

I kind of hate the dress code at Hidden...

I promise this is a practice swing, though I have been known to miss the ball.

It was such a pretty night and the weather was perfect!

Newport

We spent last week with Zach's family in Newport. We had so much fun and it was a much needed vacation! Unfortunately, the weather was gloomy and the wind made it a little cold, but we were just happy to get away and have nothing to worry about. We'd usually wake up and take a bike ride over to Balboa, or wherever and then we'd suit up and head to the beach. As you can see from the pictures I wasn't exactly prepared for the cold weather so I wore the same hoodie basically everyday. At night we played card games or watched episodes of Arrested Development. We loved every minute of it and are so thankful to Joe and Stacey for taking us on such a fun trip!!

You can tell from our faces that it's morning
